Working to protect and improve the wild trout fishery in Putah Creek

It was a PERFECT day for celebrating the remarkable return of the Chinook salmon in the lower Putah Creek. Winters may be a small town but it LOVES to celebrate!
What an INCREDIBLE day! Almost 50 volunteers showed up to help improve a major spawning area in Putah Creek. The fish will undoubtedly soon be seen taking advantage of the 2000 sq ft of brand new spawning beds. Everyone had fun and there was a real sense of purpose and warm camaraderie throughout the day (this was even BEFORE the beer).
Fall is one of my favorite seasons to fish the Putah. Some people I know don’t feel that Putah Creek is beautiful. I say they haven’t really seen the creek in it best light.
We need your help in adding gravel to the spawning area at the top of the resort. In order to accomplish this we will need at least 60 people to help get the gravel to the creek.
