Yolo County has announced today that the Putah Creek Fishing Accesses are reopening today with continued recommendations for social distancing and other measures to continue protecting against the spread of COVID-19
Yolo County continues to recommend social distancing of at least 6 feet between individuals and face coverings when 6 feet cannot be reliably maintained (ie in a boat). Members of the same household are not required to comply with these recommendations. For further details, please see the Yolo County website
Updates to come regarding the Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve parking areas around the Highway 128 bridge
3/26/20: Yolo County Parks and the Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve have BOTH been closed within the past 48 hours. This will directly impact fishing Putah Creek as there will no longer functionally be access to the creek without being considered trespassing. We will update this post as more information becomes available.
From the website:
STEBBINS COLD CANYON IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. As of March 24th, the Solano County Office of Emergency Services (OES) has requested that Stebbins Cold Canyon close to the public. The Solano County request follows Governor Newsom’s stay-at-home orderimpacting all non-essential activities in California. Narrow trails in Stebbins Cold Canyon make it impossible to maintain the required social distancing, especially given large crowds that have accessed the site in recent days. OES is also concerned that scarce first-responder resources could be consumed by wildland area rescues.
From the website:
**PARKS CLOSURE NOTICE—EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY**
March 25, 2020
All Yolo County Parks, with the exception of those listed below, will be closed to the public until further notice. The Knights Landing Boat Launch and Clarksburg Boat Launch will remain open until 5:00pm on Friday, March 27. All other parks will be closed beginning Thursday, March 26. The Parks Division had hoped to keep all of our parks open to provide opportunities for the public to spend time outdoors while following social distancing recommendations during the shelter-in-place orders. However, with limited staffing during this time, we do not have the resources to adequately maintain our park properties while also ensuring the health and safety of our visitors and staff. Additionally, over the past few days many of our facilities have been the target of vandalism and various forms of waste disposal. While this is not the decision we had hoped to make, it was made in the interest of public health and safety.
Anyone entering closed parks may be cited for trespassing and the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office will continue to patrol these areas. The Parks Division understands this is an inconvenience, but in these unprecedented times we ask for the public’s full cooperation in adhering to these closures.
In order to provide some opportunities to recreate safely outdoors, the following parks are scheduled to remain open:
The County may also close these parks if deemed necessary at any point. While using these parks it is imperative that visitors follow social distancing recommendations, follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for personal hygiene, and pack out any waste.
For additional information please contact Yolo County Parks at 530-406-4880.
