What an INCREDIBLE day! Almost 50 volunteers showed up to help improve a major spawning area in Putah Creek. The fish will undoubtedly soon be seen taking advantage of the 2000 sq ft of brand new spawning beds. Everyone had fun and there was a real sense of purpose and warm camaraderie throughout the day (this was even BEFORE the beer).
The event was a culmination of months of work by Putah Creek Trout with assistance from Trout Unlimited to get all of the permits and approvals from multiple agencies. A smaller group of dedicated volunteers had already prepared the site one week before allowing this day to go much easier.
David Lass – Trout Unlimited California Field Director helped coordinate the event and provided expertise. Trout Unlimited/Truckee sponsored the materials Multiple area fly clubs were represented – Granite Bay Flycasters, CFFU, Diablo Valley Fly Fisherman, Fly Fishers of Davis. Thanks also go out to the volunteers from other local conservation groups and general public who participated.

At the end of the day, the stream has been positively changed through all of the efforts of almost 50 individuals coming together with a common purpose. Those fish are going to be pleasantly surprised!
Great work! Congratulations on a super project!

Saw a couple obvious redds in the area that was improved. Counted at least 4 fish. Certainly more that that hidden from view. Great to see the section being used.
